WVU Women to Host Miami (Ohio) as NCAA Tournament Comes to Morgantown

Shanna Rose | WV Sports Chat MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia women’s basketball team learned Saturday it will host the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament. On Sunday, the Mountaineers learned their opponent. No. 4-seeded WVU will face No. 13-seeded Miami (Ohio) in Regional 3. No. 5-seeded Kentucky and No. 12-seeded James Madison will meet in the other first-round game, with the winners advancing to play Monday. The Mountaineers (27-6) hold a 44-5 record at Hope Coliseum in head coach Mark Kellogg’s three seasons. The only NCAA Tournament games played in Morgantown came in 1992, when the field consisted of just 48 teams. WVU was the No. 4 seed and defeated Clemson to advance to the Sweet 16 for the only time in program history.
