West Virginia basketball has secured a significant addition in the transfer portal with the commitment of 6-foot-10 center Mouhamed Sylla from Georgia Tech.
The news was first reported by Sam Kayser of League Ready.
Sylla, originally from Louga, Senegal, emerged as one of the top big men in the 2025 high school recruiting class. Rated as a four-star prospect, he chose Georgia Tech over major offers from programs including Duke, Kansas, Arkansas, Oregon, Alabama, and others.
At 6-foot-10, 240-pounds, Sylla brings mobility, athleticism, and defensive versatility that scouts have long praised. He is known for his ability to move well for his size, protect the rim, and rebound effectively on both ends.
n his lone season with the Yellow Jackets (2025-26), Sylla appeared in 16 games as a true freshman before injuries limited his availability. He posted solid averages of 9.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting an efficient 57.9% from the field. He started several games early in the season and even led the team in rebounding in multiple contests.
