Morgantown, WV – Moments ago, the WVU Football program announced a change to their 2027 non-conference football schedule. According to a press release from the university, WVU has added a 2027 home game against the Purdue Boilermakers out of the Big Ten Conference.
Per WVU A.D. Wren Baker, the addition of Purdue to the 2027 schedule stems from the expanded College Football Playoff requiring that Power Four teams play a minimum of 10 Power Four opponents. Prior to the announcement, the Mountaineers had no Power Four opponents on their non-conference slate, leaving them with only 9 Big 12 opponents.
More adjustments to the 2027 schedule are expected in the coming days for the Mountaineers.
