MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University athletic department announced earlier this month that WVU football legend Pat White would have his jersey number retired.
Today, WVU announced when the ceremony would take place. They also announced a special promotion for fans who may want to attend the game and witness this historic moment in Mountaineer football history.
Pat White's No. 5 will forever be enshrined on Sept. 5, 2026 at the WVU vs. Coastal Carolina game

White, who wore the number 5, will have his jersey retirement ceremony during the first game of the 2026 football season. The date of that game just so happens to be September 5th. That’s when the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers come to Morgantown to face the Mountaineers.
White is currently on the West Virginia football staff. He is the Assistant Quarterbacks Coach.
