WVU’s Ryan Maggy Blasts Fourth Home Run in the Appalachian League

By: James Gravley | WV Sports Chat

West Virginia’s Ryan Maggy has done everything right this summer in the Appalachian League.

From playing different positions, to having one of the best fielding percentages in the league, to impressing at the plate with his offensive approach.

His power was on full display for the Tri-State Coal Cats on Tuesday in the 17-4 win over Bristol.

Although he went 1-6 at the plate on Tuesday, that one hit was loud two-run home run which was his fourth of the season.

And as for Maggy, he doesn’t care where he plays for the Mountaineers next season, he just wants to win and help the team reach the College World Series.

A feat that seems impossible.

The Mountaineers for two consecutive seasons swept their Regional, Tucson in 2024 and Clemson in 2025, to follow that up with being swept in the Super Regionals, Chapel Hill in 2024 and Baton Rouge in 2025.
