On Sunday, the Mountaineers learned their opponent. No. 4-seeded WVU will face No. 13-seeded Miami (Ohio) in Regional 3. No. 5-seeded Kentucky and No. 12-seeded James Madison will meet in the other first-round game, with the winners advancing to play Monday. The Mountaineers (27-6) hold a 44-5 record at Hope Coliseum in head coach Mark Kellogg’s three seasons. The Mountaineers kept the game close early, but the Cougars grabbed the lead for good when AJ Dybantsa scored to make it 13–11.
