Former West Virginia pitcher Chase Meyer worked an absolute gem for the State College Spikes of the MLB Draft League over the weekend.
In his return to the mound since being dismissed from the baseball program, Meyer worked three innings where he struck out seven batter (he faced 14) and allowing one run on three hits given up.
Meyer made two appearances for WVU this year where he went 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA and capped it off with five strikeouts.
Last year Meyer went 9-2 with a 3.94 ERA and 63 strikeouts. He was a main catalyst to help WVU get back to the Super Regionals and eventually lost to the then National Champions LSU Tigers.
According to sources, if Meyer has a good showing this summer he could still potentially be a high-rated MLB Draft pick. At the beginning of the year Meyer was rated in the Top 100 back in October of last year.
