WVU Women’s Basketball star Jordan Harrison received some good news on Thursday. The former Mountaineer point guard officially made the roster for WNBA expansion team, the Portland Fire.

Harrison went undrafted in this year’s WNBA Draft, but the Fire signed her as an undrafted free agent shortly after.

In her two preseason games for Portland, Harrison averaged 7 points, 3.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game.

Harrison spoke to the media after the news broke that she made the Portland roster. You can hear her reaction in the video below.

College Career

The 5-foot-6 guard left WVU as arguably one of the top players in program history. She helped lead the Mountaineers to a 2026 Big 12 Tournament Championship. They also hosted the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament in Morgantown. Unfortunately they fell in the second round to Kentucky.

Harrison spent one year at Stephen F. Austin in 2022-23 before following coach Mark Kellogg to West Virginia. Over her four-year career, she averaged 13.1 points, 5 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game.

The Oklahoma City native may have been even more well known for her defense. She averaged 2.6 steals per game for her career and was named 2026 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. She was also a First-Team All Big 12 selection.

JJ Quinerly

Harrison was not the only former Mountaineer women’s player to make a WNBA roster. Despite missing most of last season with an injury, JJ Quinerly made the roster cut for the Dallas Wings.

The franchise drafted Quinerly with the 27th overall pick of the 2025 draft. She played in 34 games her rookie season. She started in 13 of those games. She averaged 6.5 points, 2.3 assists and .9 steals per game. She also shot 38% from 3-point range.

The 5-foot-8 guard played 11 minutes in Dallas’ preseason game on May 3rd. She scored 7 points in the contest.
