WVU Pitcher Earns Weekly Big 12 Honors

The Big 12 Conference named WVU baseball’s Chansen Cole was named Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Week for the 12th week of the college baseball season.

The 6-foot-4 inch right-hander was given the award for his outing against Kansas State on Saturday.

Cole had a complete game in the Mountaineers’ 9-1 win over the Wildcats. The sophomore allowed one run and struck out nine while only walking one batter. He gave up only five hits against a team that entered the weekend ranked in the top 10 nationally in scoring and top 20 in batting.

Other Big 12 players receiving weekly honors were Baylor’s Tyce Armstrong (player and co-newcomer) and Lucas Davenport (co-pitcher), and Kansas’ Dominic Voegele (co-pitcher).
