West Virginia head basketball coach Ross Hodge has placed the Mountaineers among the final three teams in the running to land Utah starting forward Seydou Traore, according to a recruiting update from Adam Zagoria.
Traore, a 6-foot-6, 220-pound junior with one season of eligibility remaining, entered the transfer portal in early April after a productive year as a starter for the Runnin’ Utes in the Big 12 Conference.
The reported finalists include West Virginia, UConn, and Seton Hall, though other Power Conference programs such as Kansas State, Louisville, LSU, and Oklahoma have also shown interest
In 31 games for Utah, he averaged 9.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting efficiently from the field. He delivered one of his strongest performances of the season against West Virginia, posting 17 points in Utah’s win in Morgantown.
