Morgantown, WV – When the WVU Men’s Basketball team travels to Las Vegas to play in the College Basketball Crown, they will be without the services of one of their most promising young players. According to Coach Ross Hodge, true freshman Amir Jenkins will have surgery on both shoulders, officially ending his first season with the Mountaineers. Hodge broke the news on the latest episode of 3 Guys Before the Game.

Jenkins appeared in 32 games for the Mountaineers in the 2025-26 season. While posting modest stats – 3.4 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 2 assists per game – the Massachusetts native showed glimpses of the special player he could become.

During the appearance on 3 Guys, Hodge expanded on the topic. He explained that Jenkins played the entire season with a torn labrum in his left shoulder. The 6-foot-2 guard then injured his right shoulder during a game against TCU in Fort Worth on February 21, explained Hodge. Jenkins played out the remainder of the season despite the two injuries.

WVU opens play against Stanford in the College Basketball Crown on April 2nd. Tip-off is set for 8 P.M. EDT on Fox Sports 1.
