The No. 24 ranked West Virginia Mountaineers improved to 8-1 overall on the season with an impressive 9-1 victory on Saturday afternoon.
Chansen Cole was impressive as he worked five strong innings striking out five and allowed only two hits on the evening. He earned the win as well.
Cole now has a total of 15 strikeouts over 13 innings of work with two earned runs allowed on eight hits. He now moves to 2-0 on the year with an impressive 1.38 ERA.
Reese Bassinger pitched two scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts of his own, too. David Hagen closed out the game for WVU. Bryant Yoak gave up the Owls only run in the eighth frame.
Combined the WVU pitchers recorded eight strikeouts and just four hits allowed.
Tyrus Hall recorded three hits in five at-bats, including his first home run of the season.
Armani Guzman recorded three RBI on a one-hit afternoon.
Paul Schoenfeld had two RBI as well on a one-hit afternoon.
WVU and Kennesaw State will close out its three-game series on Sunday with first pitch schedule for noon with Maxx Yehl getting the start.
