Two WVU Basketball Stars Recognized by Big 12

Two WVU basketball stars were honored by the Big 12 Conference this week for their outstanding performances. Honor Huff received recognition on the men’s side, and Jordan Harrison was recognized on the women’s side.

Senior Honor Huff was named the Big 12’s Newcomer of the Week for his performances against Cincinnati and Kansas. Per the press release from the Big 12 Conference office:

Huff averaged 23.5 points and 7.5 rebounds to help the Mountaineers to a pair of wins, including the program’s first AP Top 25 victory under first-year head coach Ross Hodge. In the 62-60 win against Cincinnati, the Brooklyn, New York native poured in 24 points and added a career-high eight rebounds, as he scored five of WVU’s last 10 points that erased a late five-point deficit. The senior guard who transferred from Chattanooga followed up with 23 points in the 86-75 win over No. 22 Kansas, adding another seven rebounds while making four 3-pointers. It is Huff’s first Big 12 Newcomer of the Week selection.

Jordan Harrison, WVU Women

Not taking a backseat was the WVU women’s basketball team and their star, Jordan Harrison. The senior guard was named to the Big 12 starting five for this week.

In a 71-66 loss to Texas Tech, Harrison poured in 22 points. She also dished out five assists and pulled down five rebounds.

On Sunday, the Oklahoma City native led Mark Kellogg’s squad to an 83-70 upset win over Iowa State in Ames. She had 19 points, five rebounds and eight assists in the win.
