MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Friday morning, WVU football linebacker Reid Carrico took to social media to post what appears to be a farewell message to Mountaineer fans.
What an honor it has been to play for this school and this state. Best decision I have ever made was to move to West Virginia and the people/fans are what make it so special.

The fifth-year senior came to Morgantown prior to the 2024 season. He transferred in after spending the first three years of his career at Ohio State.
In his two seasons wearing the gold & blue, he accumulated 123 total tackles, 4.5 sacks, 9.5 tackles-for-loss (TFLs), a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. His most productive year came this past season where he spent most of the year as a starter under Rich Rodriguez and first year defensive coordinator, Zac Alley. Eight of his TFLs and all 4.5 sacks came in 2025.
The Ironton, Ohio native played mostly special teams during his time in Columbus after redshirting his freshman season. He was a durable player who played in all 24 games during his two-year Mountaineer career. He became a fan-favorite because of his toughness, work-ethic and the love he showed to the state and the program.
