West Virginia has successfully flipped the commitment of highly regarded prospect Aidan Woods from the University of North Carolina.
Woods, a 6-foot-6, 255-pound athlete from Abingdon High School in Virginia, originally committed to the North Carolina Tar Heels in June following an official visit to Chapel Hill. Initially listed as a tight end in high school, Woods’ versatility and raw potential have caught the eye of recruiters across the nation.
However, WVU saw him as a future cornerstone at offensive tackle, a position where his size and athleticism could shine at the collegiate level. The Mountaineers’ persistence paid off, with offensive line coach Jack Bicknell and senior offensive assistant Travis Trickett maintaining consistent contact with Woods, ultimately swaying him to switch his pledge.
According to 247Sports, Woods holds a three-star rating with an 85-grade.
