BASEBALL: West Virginia to play Virginia, Coastal Carolina in non-conference slate in 2027

According to a source close to WV Sports Chat, West Virginia will play a tough-sledded non-conference schedule in 2027.

According to the source, West Virginia will play Virginia as of now before the last Big 12 home series. They will also play Coastal Carolina sometime before the Big 12 season starts, per source.

Virignia is reloaded this year.

Coastal welcomes in a new coach with new transfer players but they are expected to be competitive in 2027.

Also to note about the baseball schedule, per sources, WVU will be playing in the first ever Orlando Baseball Classic Feb. 26-28 at Walt Disney World. Pitt and UCF are also participating. Not sure who else. There is rumored to be six teams, and I’d imagine there’s an effort to keep the Mountaineers away from those Pitt and UCF since they’re part of the regular-season schedule. Rumors say Virginia Tech will be part of the Orlando Baseball Classic, but that is not confirmed.

Mid-week games will be at home against Ohio, Youngstown State, Penn State and Marshall, on the road against Maryland, Marshall, Penn State and Pitt and at a neutral-site against Marshall.
