Since the release of ESPN’s analytic metric system last week, West Virginia was at first given a 99% chance of defeating Robert Morris on Saturday. Since then, it has dropped down to 98.7%. It could be a small factor of Jimmori Robinson not playing, or the fact that no one really knows who the starting quarterback will be.
However, that still shouldn’t play a factor in Saturday’s contest between the two programs.
West Virginia is 24-0 against FCS programs and that includes wins over JMU (2004, 2012, 2019), Liberty (2009, 2015) and Coastal Carolina (2010).
Since those years of being then-FCS opponents, Coastal Carolina jumped from FCS to FBS in 2017 while Liberty jumped from FCS to FBS in 2019, and JMU followed suit in 2022.
Since joining the FBS ranks, WVU has not played Coastal Carolina, Liberty or JMU but that will change in 2026 as WVU and Coastal will meet for the first time as FBS opponents on September 5 due to WVU and Bama mutually agreeing to part ways with its two-game series from 2026 to 2027.
Kickoff between WVU and Robert Morris will be at 2:00 pm and can be streamed on ESPN+.
