WVU is heading into its first season under the Ross Hodge era, and fans are excited to see what he can bring to Morgantown, as he held his summer press conference with the media earlier today.
The press conference began with Hodge discussing the roster so far and noting that an open scholarship remained.
“We still have one open scholarship, and we’re working on that daily, and we do plan on using it for the fall,” Hodge said.
One of the main topics he discussed was the addition of 6-foot-2 freshman guard Amir Jenkins, who reclassified to the 2025 class.
“It was more a matter of just him becoming comfortable with the opportunity that we had for him,” Hodge explained.
Jenkins is someone that many West Virginia fans are excited to see, as he is ranked a four-star recruit in the 2025 class by 247Sports.
Something to note for this coaching staff is that there is an open spot that they plan to fill soon, according to Hodge.
Towards the end of his press conference, Hodge talked about realizing how much the state of West Virginia cares about Mountaineer basketball and athletics as a whole.
“You can feel how important it is and how much it matters to people,” Hodge stated.
People all over the state of West Virginia will be curious to see how Ross Hodge leads this men’s basketball team, and they will especially pay close attention to the game on Nov. 13 against Pitt at the WVU Coliseum.
