MORGANTOWN, W.Va.-West Virgina starting pitcher Gavin Van Kempen and infielder Chase Swain entered the transfer portal on Tuesday.
Van Kenpem appeared in 14 games, 13 of which were starts for the Mountaineers this season. He posted a 2-0 record and a 6.13 ERA this season. The junior right-hander struck out 37 and walked 26. He held opposing hitters to a .261 batting average.
In May, the junior was sidelined with a shoulder injury and did not make any post season appearances for WVU.
Swain played in 49 games for the Mountaineers and started in 39 of them. The utility man came to Morgantown from Manhattan last season.
Swain hit .321 with 30 RBIs and two home runs. this season. Towards the end of the season, the redshirt junior settled into a bench player role.
Both players have one year of eligibility remaining.
