MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia is looking to pick up its second win on Friday against Stetson at Hope Coliseum.

The Mountaineers are coming off a 91-46 win over Niagara on Monday in the season opener while the Hatters opened the season with an 85-72 loss to Clemson. The Hatters also suffered a loss to South Carolina on Tuesday night.

In the loss to the Gamecocks, 6-foot-8 forward Collin Kuhl had 17 points and seven rebounds for Stetson. Last season he averaged 13.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game to earn third team All-ASUN honors.

Similar to WVU, the Hatters had a significant roster turnover and added seven players from the transfer portal.

Magnus Entenmann is a transfer from Kent State and is averaging 10.5 points and 4.5 rebounds this season.

The Hatters, who have been outscored 91-49 in the first halves of their two games, are playing a difficult nonconference slate that also includes trips to Louisville, USF, Miami and Cincinnati before Christmas.

In the Mountaineers’ win earlier in the week, freshman Miles Sadler just missed a double-double with 16 points and nine assists. He was one of six players in double figures scoring.

Senior Brenen Lorient scored 13 points in the WVU season opener while junior Martin Somerville had 12 and seniors Finley Bizjack and Javan Buchanan 11 apiece. Sophomore Mo Sylla finished with 10 points.

Every player who was dressed and available got into the game and nine got into the scoring column against the Purple Eagles.

The Mountaineers excelled on the defensive side of the ball on Monday. Niagara finished without an offensive rebound or a made free throw.

WVU is 217-60 against nonconference teams in regular season games in the last 23 seasons.

The Mountaineers own a 638-194 all-time record in 57 seasons of play at Hope Coliseum.

Stetson will be making its third-ever visit to Morgantown and its first since 2015, a 103-62 WVU victory.

Friday night’s game will tip off at 7 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN+.
