WVU Could Be Without Key Pieces at Texas Tech

As WVU football prepares to travel to Lubbock, TX to take on the 15th-ranked Red Raiders, they may do so with fewer players available in the secondary; and most notably at Safety.

Multiple safeties who play significant snaps for the Mountaineers were listed on the initial Big 12 Player Availability Report. Freshman star safety Matt Sieg is listed as Probable for the contest after leaving the TCU game early with an apparent injury. Other safeties listed on the report were Da’Mare Williams and Jacob Bradford. Both were listed as Questionable.

Also listed on the report was cornerback Nick Taylor, who played sparingly in the win over TCU after missing the entirety of the Cincinnati game with an injury. Taylor joins Sieg on the Probable list.

For a defense that is dead last in the FBS in passing yards allowed, having some of your best players out in the secondary is not ideal for the Mountaineers.

Another notable name on the report this week is Freshman backup quarterback Jyron Hughley, who is listed as Doubtful.

The second injury report for the game will be released Thursday night at 10:00pm EST.
