Former West Virginia Women’s basketball standout Jordan Harrison has announced she is stepping away from the game of basketball. The former WVU point guard is retiring after playing one season for the WNBA’s Portland Fire.

The 5-foot-6 point guard won the hearts of Mountaineer fans during her three years in Morgantown. Not only was she very skilled, but she played with great effort and always left it all on the court. She also made Mountaineer fans love her with her infectious personality and positive attitude. Harrison left Morgantown as one of the most beloved players to ever suit up for the WVU women’s team.
The Oklahoma City native followed Coach Mark Kellogg to West Virginia after spending one year with him at Stephen F. Austin. Harrison averaged 12.1 points and 5.0 assists per game as a freshman at Stephen F. Austin in 2022–23. She was named Freshman of the Year in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
During her time with the Mountaineers, Harrison averaged over 13 points per game for her career. She was named to the All-Big 12 Team all three seasons, including a First Team selection after her Senior season in 2025-26. That year she also led the Mountaineers to a Big 12 Tournament title and was named an Honorable Mention All-American, as well as the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year.
Harrison would go undrafted in the 2026 WNBA Draft, but was later picked up by the Portland Fire as a free agent. She played in 16 games for the franchise, including two starts. She finished the year averaging 5.1 points, 4.2 assists and .7 steals per game. In her final game of the season, she dished out 10 assists.
