The 2027 college baseball season is still months away, but that won’t stop mock drafts from being compiled over the next few weeks and months to come after opening day.
With that, in its recent article on September 4, Bleacher Report put out a full first round 2027 MLB mock draft.
In that mock draft Bleacher Report has West Virginia’s Gavin Kelly going No. 7 overall to the Seattle Mariners.
Here is what Bleacher Report noted on Kelly:
Kelly helped West Virginia make its first-ever trip to the College World Series in 2026, hitting .382/.477/.725 with 21 doubles, 19 home runs and 63 RBI in 63 games while seeing time at catcher and second base. He is one of the best pure hitters in the 2027 class and led the Collegiate National Team with nine hits and six RBI this summer, including a five-hit game against Chinese Taipei.
Kelly was also projected, according to MLB.com, to be a first round draft pick by the Baltimore Orioles with the No. 6 selection. That story was however written in late July of this year.
