The Big 12 Conference released their weekly awards for week three of the college football season. The West Virginia Mountaineers received two awards after their 38-27 win over number 25 Virginia.
Quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week for his five-touchdown performance against the Cavaliers. The Oklahoma transfer completed 10 of his 17 pass attempts for 190 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 123 yards rushing on only 18 carries.
Hawkins shares the Offensive Player of the Week Award with Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita who had four touchdown passes in the Wildcats’ 42-17 win over Northern Illinois. Fifita’s 325 yards through the air made him Arizona’s all-time leader in passing yards.
Hawkins Jr. was not the only WVU football player to be honored by the league. The unit that blocked for him also received recognition.
The West Virginia offensive line was named Offensive Line of the Week. The group not only blocked for Hawkins’ 313 total yards of offense; they also blocked for running back Cam Cook. The durable back ran 30 times for 123 yards to lead the Mountaineer rushing attack.

Defensive Player of the Week: Demari Henderson, DB, UCF and Owen Long, LB, Arizona State
Special Teams Player of the Week: Jaren Hamilton, Returner, Arizona State and Will Karoll, Punter, Texas Tech
Freshman of the Week: Legend Glasker, WR, BYU
Offensive Line of the Week: West Virginia
Defensive Line of the Week: K-State
