Per a report by Jack Pilgrim of Kentucky Sports Radio, former WVU basketball point guard Kerr Kriisa has been arrested by the FBI. Per the report, “the 25-year-old from Estonia’s arrest was in connection to a multimillion dollar fraud scheme dating back to his time at West Virginia as a Mountaineer in 2023-24. He’s being extradited back to West Virginia with a court hearing scheduled for next week.”
Kriisa spent one season in Morgantown during the 2023-24 season. During that time he averaged a career high 11 points per game. He also averaged 4.7 assists per game. He shot 42.9 percent from the floor during his lone season with the Mountaineers, and made 42.4 percent of his three point shots. Kriisa started all 23 games in which he appeared for West Virginia during that season.
The 6-foot-3 point guard was recruited to West Virginia basketball by Bob Huggins. After Huggins was arrested for a DUI and then subsequently resigned, Kriisa stayed with the Mountaineers to play for Interim Head Coach Josh Eilert. Kriisa missed the first nine games of that season due to a suspension from the NCAA.
After leaving WVU, the Estonia native spent one season at Kentucky, where he only played nine games due to injury. He then transferred to Cincinnati where he played in 2025-26 to finish his career.
Kriisa spent three seasons at Arizona prior to transferring to WVU. There, he averaged 8.4 points and 4.1 assists per game.
Over the course of his six year career with four different programs, Kriisa averaged 8.8 points and 4.4 assists per game. He shot 35.7 percent from 3-point range during his career.
While the arrest has been reported by Pilgrim; at the time of this writing, there have been no official statements or reports from Kriisa, the FBI, nor anyone else directly involved in the alleged case.
