A much anticipated visit for West Virginia was scheduled to happen with Florida State infielder transfer Noah Sheffield may not happen after all.

Sheffield, who will have two years of eligibility remaining, was reported to have been scheduling an official visit with the Mountaineers’. However, according to sources it appears things have fizzled out between the two.

Sources tell WV Sports Chat that Sheffield has yet to hear back about a follow from the coaching staff for WVU and claims things have “fizzled out” for now.

The anticipation, however, is that the two sides can reopen their communication and set up an official visit within the coming weeks.

Back on June 11, Sheffield told WV Sports Chat that no scheduled visit has yet to happen, but he would be taking one as soon as it was set up.

He is listed as an infielder but as FSU Wire notes he can play multiple other positions and is versatile which is something that West Virginia is looking for out of the portal.

Sheffield ended the year hitting .250 with four home runs, nine doubles, 29 RBI, and 26 runs scored for the Seminoles. He is the son of former MLB slugger and star Gary Sheffield.
