West Virginia baseball has added a significant offensive weapon for the future, committing freshman infielder Ryan Piekutoski from USC Sumter.

The 6’4″, 215-230 pound right-handed hitter from Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, brings elite power production and a well-rounded skill set after dominating at the junior college level in his first season.

Piekutoski has been one of the top performers in NJCAA Region 10 this spring. Through 49 games, he posted a slash line of .466/.628/1.061, with:

  • 23 home runs
  • 77 RBIs
  • 69 runs scored
  • 13 doubles and 3 triples
  • 20 stolen bases in 24 attempts

He showed exceptional plate discipline with 56 walks against just 19 strikeouts in 215 plate appearances (plus 10 hit-by-pitches). His performance included standout moments like hitting for the cycle and a school-record weekend with 5 home runs and 15 RBIs against USC Salkehatchie in March.
