The West Virginia Mountaineers baseball team has re-entered the national Top 15 rankings following a solid 3-1 week that included a hard-fought road series victory over Texas Tech.
WVU improved to 24-8 overall and 10-5 in Big 12 Conference play after splitting the first two games in Lubbock before dominating the series finale. The Mountaineers now sit just two games behind conference leader Kansas (12-3 in league play) and are tied with UCF for second place in the standings.
The strong showing propelled WVU back into the Top 15 in several major polls:
- D1Baseball.com: Moved up to No. 15 (from No. 17).
- Perfect Game: Ranked No. 13.
- Baseball America: Sitting at No. 18.
This marks one of the team’s highest rankings of the 2026 season and reflects consistent improvement under second-year head coach Steve Sabins. WVU has been ranked for much of the year, briefly falling out of some polls before climbing steadily through conference play.
West Virginia will play a neutral site game on Wednesday against Penn State in Hagerstown, Maryland.
