WVU baseball starting pitcher Maxx Yehl received recognition from the Big 12 for his performance against Baylor on Saturday.

The league named Yehl their Pitcher of the Week. Below is what the Big 12 said about the Mountaineer hurler:

Yehl was dominant in an 8-0 road win at Baylor, tossing eight scoreless innings while striking out a career-high 12 batters. The junior lefty allowed just three singles and issued only one walk, while retiring the final 12 batters he faced. His 12 strikeouts marked the most by a Mountaineer on the road since 2019 and capped a performance that improved his season ERA to 0.72, the second-best in the Big 12 and ninth in Division I. His 33 strikeouts through his first three starts are tied for the fourth-most among Big 12 pitchers.

The other players honored by the Big 12 this week were: Kansas State’s Shintaro Inoue (player) and Arizona State’s Dean Toigo (newcomer).

Yehl is the second WVU baseball player to earn weekly honors from the conference. Gavin Kelly was named Player of the Week for week three.
