Marchiol, who will have two years of eligibility remaining, entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on January 1st. After starting the first four games for the Mountaineers, the Chandler, Arizona product shut down for the 2025 season following a foot injury. He finished his career at WVU Football with 1,462 passing yards and 10 touchdowns to seven interceptions. Making his presence felt in the ground game, as well, Marchiol tallied 341 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns.
Northwestern is coming off of a 7-6 season in 2025 which included a victory in the GameAbove Sports Bowl over Central Michigan. Chip Kelly will serve as the offensive coordinator for the Wildcats in 2026.
Marchiol is expected to battle it out with Michigan State transfer Aidan Chiles for the starting quarterback spot.
Our very own Justin “Couz” Walker gave a little more detail about the QB battle in Evanston. It can be seen in this recent episode of Couz’s Corner below. The conversation about Nicco begins at the 26:00 mark of the show.
