Former West Virginia wide receiver Dom Collins has announced that he will withdrawal his name from the transfer portal and return to Concord University (DII) to continue his football career.

The former Kennedy and Moss Award Winner and in-state star jumped onto the radar of coaches and fans when he ran a 4.25 40-yard dash at a WVU football camp back in the Summer of 2023. The Princeton native was later offered by Neal Brown and signed with the Mountaineers on early signing day in December 2023 as part of the 2024 recruiting class.

The Princeton Senior High product only appeared in one game for WVU in 2024, securing a redshirt. He remained part of the WVU football program after Rich Rodriguez was hired in December 2024. After participating in 2025 Spring practice for the Mountaineers, the speedster would enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. He ultimately ended up at Concord University in Athens, WV, where he would be closer to family.

Collins was second in the country among DII receivers in several categories through the first five games of the season. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury that kept him out the remainder of the season. He had over 100-yards receiving in four of those first five games.

After the Mountain Lions’ season ended, the redshirt freshman entered his name into the transfer portal once again. However, on Sunday, he announced his intentions to return to Athens and compete for the Mountain Lions once again in 2026.

Collins has also excels on the track at Concord. He recently placed second in the 60-meter dash at the Liberty Open indoor event in Lynchburg, VA. He posted a time of 6.81 seconds, which was a new personal best for the dual-sport standout. The winner, Jahmal Jones from Ferrum College, ran a 6.75.

If Collins can play a full season and produce at the level he did in 2025, he may have an opportunity to compete for the Harlan Hill Trophy. That is the award that goes to the top player in all of Division II football.

The 5-foot-9 receiver received three Division I offers after entering the portal. According to his X account, he received offers from UT-Martin, Wofford and Western Kentucky.

While Collins left after only one full season with WVU football, Mountaineer fans will always remember him as the in-state star who donned the gold & blue and ran a 4.25 40-yard dash.
