WVU Fans May Soon Be Able to Support WVU Athletics Even Easier Than Before

Potential New Partnership Could Be on the Horizon

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – In the past week, WVU athletics has announced partnerships with Omaha Steaks and a new travel planning site called Mountaineer Travel. Both partnerships offer opportunities for Mountaineer fans to support their favorite team by simply purchasing travel packages and/or steaks.

A new way for fans to support West Virginia athletics could also be on the way, but it will be up to us fans to make it a reality. What is this potential partnership? It’s with a company called Buy & Boost. An online shopping platform.

Graham Smith, who is overseeing the business development of the Buy & Boost app, explains what Buy & Boost is and how it works. “Buy & Boost is a browser extension allowing fans to passively generate, and athletic departments passively collect, NIL revenue through online cash-back programs,” said Smith. “The idea is to combat donor fatigue by allowing fans to contribute by doing what they already do, shop online. There’s no round up or out of pocket cost to users, simply shop and one of our brand partners (Walmart, Nike, Staples, etc.) becomes the donor.”

While WVU Athletics and Buy & Boost are not officially partners just yet, fans can already use the app or browser extension to make their online purchases. Once the Mountaineer Athletic Department sees how much interest it generates, and how much NIL money can be earned, they will have the option to partner with B&B and create more earning opportunities for WVU athletes.
