MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The running back position for WVU football may be without two more players for Saturday’s home game against Colorado.
Jahiem White and Tye Edwards are both already out with season ending injuries. Now, the room may get even thinner. In the initial player availability report that was released for the game against the Buffaloes, both Tyler Jacklich and Clay Ash are listed as “Questionable” for Saturday’s contest.
If neither Jacklich nor Ash are available on Saturday, it would leave Diore Hubbard and Cyncir Bowers as the only two backs available for WVU.
Ash has seen his snap count decline in recent weeks, and Jacklich has barely played at all after being added to the roster during fall camp. If both players are out for the game, it’s unknown who would replace Hubbard or Bowers should either of them go down with an injury.
Rich Rodriguez has stated in press conferences that linebacker Curtis Jones Jr. has been getting running back reps at practice. If the injuries keep piling up, the Mountaineers may need to rely on Jones to get carries on game day.
In another update, quarterback Khalil Wilkins did not appear on the initial availability report this week. The redshirt freshman has missed the past two games with a lower body injury he sustained against UCF on October 18. Barring any setbacks prior to the game, it appears Wilkins will be available to backup Scotty Fox Jr. if necessary.
Per the Big 12 Conference, the full initial player availability report for Colorado can be seen below.
