Scouts Association Names Steve Sabins Coach of the Year

Steve Sabins has done fantastic things as West Virginia’s head baseball coach. From preparation, recruiting, to in-game development and strategies that helped lead the Mountaineers to a 44-16 record.

Along with that incredible record, Sabins also helped lead the charge for the Mountaineers to win the Big 12 regular season championship and reaching the Super Regionals for the second consecutive season.

On Thursday, the Mid Atlantic Scouts Association announced that it was naming Sabins as Coach of the Year.

Steve Sabins has been named “Coach of the Year” by the Mid Atlantic Scouts Association. Steve led West Virginia U to a 44-16 record and the Big 12 regular season title in 2025, his first year as head coach. WVU finished in the top 15 in some polls.

The Mountaineers finished ranked No. 13 according to Baseball America. Perfect Game and D1Baseball had the Mountaineers ranked No. 14. National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) had the Mountaineers ranked No. 12 while the USA Today’s coaching poll had WVU ranked No. 17.
