St. Louis Cardinals top rated prospect JJ Wetherholt will make his Triple-A debut tonight for the Memphis Redbirds against the Charlotte Knights (Chicago White Sox Triple-A).
Wetherholt will be playing shortstop and batting second for the Redbirds in game one of the doubleheader.
Wetherholt earned his promotion to Triple-A on Monday after his first pro multi-home run outing on Sunday.
In 62 games with Springfield, Wetherholt has hit seven home runs with another 34 runs driven in. He’s also produced an impressive .300 batting average to boot this season.
Wetherholt was also selected as a member of the NL Futures Game with 17 Top 100 prospects set to compete on July 12 at Truist Park in Atlanta.
Since making his pro debut at Single-A Palm Beach last season, Wetherholt has slashed .299/.419/.445 in 401 Minor League plate appearances.
With this promotion to Memphis, Wetherholt is now on his projected estimated time of arrival to make his big league debut in 2026.
