According to Rivals/On3 network, newly committed Florida State four-star prospect Jasen Lopez is being pressured by ‘multiple schools’ to flip him to their respective programs.
One of those schools is in fact West Virginia. The Mountaineers are tabbed with Miami, NC State and Georgia Tech as all considerable contenders in flipping Lopez from Florida State.
Of the four schools, Miami likely has the best chance to flip Lopez while West Virginia is probably the least likely of the four schools to get Lopez to flip from Florida State.
Lopez holds offers from Arkansas, Boston College, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Penn State, Pitt, Purdue, Tennessee, UCF, UCLA, and USF.
Lopez has been committed to Florida State since June 26, 2025, but it appears cold feet may be setting in.
“This isn’t me shutting down my recruitment. It’s just me committed to a school verbally,” Lopez said. With that, fans of Florida State have began to question his loyalty to the Seminoles program.
Although Lopez is a highly-touted football prospect, he also is good on the hardwood as well. He’s even earned a four-star rating as a point guard and holds numerous offers from several high-profile schools as well.
It is unclear that if he commits to play football if he will continue to be a two-way star and pick up the basketball during the offseason.
