The West Virginia baseball program has made a significant splash in the transfer portal, adding outfielder Sean Smith from Georgia Southern.
The news was first reported on social media by On The Clock Baseball and 64 Analytics.
Smith was a cornerstone for the Georgia Southern Eagles’ lineup last season, playing both left field and DH. Over 48 games, starting 45, Smith slashed an impressive.352 batting average, .458 on base percentage and .599 slugging percentage, showcasing his ability to hit for both average and power.
His offensive prowess includes 9 doubles, 2 triples, 9 home runs, and 36 RBIs, making him one of the Sun Belt Conference’s most productive players. He also recorded a 19-game hit streak last season, with 11 of those being multi-hit contests.
