West Virginia has received a commitment from Nitro HS (W.Va.) 2026 wide receiver Malachi Thompson.

Thompson, 6-foot-5, 200-pounds, chose the Mountaineers over offers from Ohio, Marshall, Temple, Toledo and Miami (Oh.), among others.

He announced his decision on Instagram.

Thompson was already a household name throughout high school football in the Mountain State, but caught the attention of the West Virginia football coaching staff following an impressive showing at the Mountaineers’ 7-on-7 camp, earning himself a scholarship offer.

This past season, Thompson was named the Randy Moss award winner, an honor given annually to the state of West Virginia’s top wide receiver.

During his junior season, Thompson hauled in 74 receptions for 1,593 yards and 18 touchdowns.
