Nitro (WV) High School standout wide receiver Malachi Thompson has caught the attention of the West Virginia football coaching staff, earning an offer following an impressive showing at the Mountaineers’ 7-on-7 camp.
The Class of 2026 prospect, who is already a household name throughout West Virginia high school football, showcased his elite size and playmaking ability during camp.
In addition to West Virginia, Thompson, 6-foot-5, 200-pounds, has received offers from Marshall, Temple, Ohio and Toledo.

This past season, Thompson was named the Randy Moss award winner, an honor given annually to the state of West Virginia’s top wide receiver.
During his junior season, Thompson hauled in 74 receptions for 1,593 yards and 18 touchdowns.
