WVU Selected for Clemson Regional

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.-The West Virginia University baseball team earned an at-large bid to the 2025 NCAA Baseball Championship on Monday and will head to Clemson, South Carolina as the No. 2 seed. The Mountaineers will open against No. 3 Kentucky on Friday afternoon.

This will be the 16th NCAA appearance for WVU and third straight, the first time earning three consecutive selections since four straight from 1961-64. Head coach Steve Sabins is the first coach to lead the Mountaineers to an NCAA Regional in his first season.

Clemson is the top seed in the Clemson Regional, as they hold the No. 11 overall national seed.

WVU is one of eight Big 12 teams in the tournament.

Friday’s first pitch between the Mountaineers and the Wildcats will be at 12 p.m. with the game airing on ESPNU. Host and No. 11 national seed Clemson and No. 4 seed USC Upstate will play the second game of the day on Friday at 6 p.m. ET.

The winner of the Clemson Regional will face the winner of the Baton Rouge Regional (LSU) in the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament.
