West Virginia signed Southern Illinois linebacker Ben Bogle from the transfer on Wednesday morning, according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports.
The Ponte Verde, Florida, native played four games as a true freshman in 2022. Then during his redshirt freshman season recorded 32 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks. Pro Football Focus had him recording 37 stops last season, which is a tackle that constitutes a loss for the offense.
Bogle (6-foot-2, 225-pounds) had his breakout year in 2024 with the Salukis, as he recorded 85 tackles (16.5 tackles for loss), 5.5 sacks, three quarterback hits, and two interceptions.
For his efforts, Bogle earned All-American Honors from the Associated Press (Honorable Mention), Phil Steele Fourth Team, and FCS Football Central (Third Team).
He received offers from Arkansas State, Bowling Green, Delaware State, James Madison, New Mexico State, Oklahoma State, Texas State, Toledo, UNLV, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and Western Kentucky.
Defensive coordinator Zac Alley and the Mountaineers have options at the linebacker position. Before the commitment of Bogle, WVU only had Reid Carrico, Ben Cutter, and Colorado State transfer Chase Wilson, who had played significant snaps at the collegiate level.
Bogle logged 725 snaps in 2024 and 935 over his career.
Bogle will enroll at WVU in May and has two years of eligibility remaining.
