MORGANTOWN, W.Va.–West Virginia guard JJ Quinerly was selected in the third round of the WNBA Draft with the 27th selection by the Dallas Wings.
The Norfolk, Virginia native was just the fourth Mountaineer to score 2,000 career points and she was also a two-time Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year while at WVU.
Quinerly had 328 steals, 341 assists, 410 rebounds, and 2,016 points in her four-year career with the Mountaineers.. She helped WVU make three NCAA Tournament appearances.
Quinerly finished her tenure with the Mountaineers third in scoring and steals and was the only player in WVU history to have 2,000 points, 300 steals, 300 rebounds and 300 assists.
She finished her senior season with an average of 20.4 points and tied West Virginia’s single-game program mark with 38 in a February home win against Utah.
The Wings’ 9-31 record was the second-worst in the WNBA last season. Earlier in the night, Dallas selected UCONN star Paige Bueckers with the No. 1 overall pick.
