MORGANTOWN, W.Va.– West Virginia secured its third commitment in two days when linebacker/safety Cameron Dwyer of West Palm Beach Central High School in Florida announced his commitment to the Mountaineers on his Instagram account.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Dwyer is a three-star recruit, who received offers from East Carolina, FAU, James Madison, Pitt, Tulane, USF, and Wake Forest, but he chose WVU over nearby USF.
He received an offer from defensive coordinator Zac Alley on Jan. 29, and has since developed a rapport with him and other members of the coaching staff, which made his decision easier.
Dwyer recorded 54 tackles and eight tackles for loss last season and is expected to play a role as a safety-linebacker hybrid in the Mountaineers’ defense.
His official visit is scheduled for the weekend of June 6-8.
Dwyer joins quarterback Jyron Hughley, running back Jett Walker, wide receiver Jeff Jean-Noel, tight end Sam Hamilton, and defensive backs Emory Snyder and Taj Powell in the 2026 recruiting class.
