Three WVU Pitchers Limit Dukes to Six Hits

MORGANTOWN., W.Va.–Behind stellar pitching, West Virginia defeated James Madison 3-1 on Wednesday night at the Kendrick Family Ballpark.

David Hagen (2-0) earned the win, tossing five innings of two-hit baseball for the Mountaineers (18-2). The lone run the Dukes scored came off a home run in the first.

Reese Basinger and Jack Kartsonas combined to pitch four innings of scoreless baseball.

Skylar King had three hits and Brodie Kresser drove in a run.

The Dukes (7-14) took a 1-0 lead in the first when Kyle Langley hit a solo shot over the right field wall.

In the third, WVU tied the game 1-1 when Brodie Kresser’s sacrifice fly scored Kyle West.

In the fourth, the Mountaineers took the lead when Sam White stole home. Then Jace Rineart scored on a wild pitch.

WVU welcomes Arizona to town for a three-game series beginning on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
