WVU Lands Former Tennessee Catcher Cash Williams From Transfer Portal

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Former Tennessee catcher Cash Williams has committed to West Virginia, according to his X account.

Williams did not appear in a game for the Volunteers as a freshman and served as a bullpen catcher.

The Choctaw, Oklahoma native has four years of eligibility remaining. Coming out of high school, Williams was ranked by Prep Baseball Report as the No. 113 overall prospect in the class of 2025 and No. 10 catcher.

In addition to catching, Williams played outfield in high school. As a senior, he batted .505 with 14 doubles, 12 home runs, 48 RBIs and 26 stolen bases.

Williams was tabbed a 2025 ABCA/Rawlings High School All-America Second Team selection and earned 2025 First Team All-State honors from the Oklahoman while garnering 2025 OBCA All-State honors. He was named a 2025 NHSBCA and ABCA/Rawlings All-Region 6 selection.

Williams becomes the latest addition to a Mountaineer team heading to its first College World Series appearance.
