As of 4:00 p.m. the Mountaineers are poised to host a regional. Well, that’s if you ask Baseball America and DI Baseball.
Baseball America’s Field of 64 projections has West Virginia hosting (14 seed) with Mississippi State, The Citadel and South Dakota State. They’re paired with Georgia (3 seed – host) with UC Santa Barbara, Virginia and St. John’s.
D1Baseball’s latest Field of 64 projections has WVU (16 seed – host) with Mississippi State, Virginia Tech and Holy Cross. They are paired with UCLA (1 seed – host) with Boston College, UC Santa Barbara and Sand Diego State.
On3’s latest Field of 64 projections has WVU not hosting. However, they have the Mountaineers going to the Fayetteville regional to play Arkansas, the host, Virginia Tech and Eastern Illinois.
Official host announcements will be made roughly around 8:30 pm ET.
