Former West Virginia pitcher Gavin Van Kempen had underwent successful surgery.
Van Kempen, per his X account, wrote “I want to thank [JeffDugasMD] for a successful internal brace procedure at the Andrews Sports Medicine center. I cannot thank you enough!”
Van Kempen announced his commitment to East Carolina on June 23 of last year after entering the transfer portal from West Virginia.
Back in March, Van Kempen suffered an arm injury during his outing against UAB.
Van Kempen appeared in just 29.1 innings for the Pirates this year before suffering his injury. In those innings of work he recorded 45 strikeouts with just nine walks and allowed just eight runs on 16 hits.
