Per multiple media reports, including one from USA Today, the Georgia Bulldogs are hiring WVU football assistant Coach Larry Knight to coach outside linebackers in Athens. Knight just officially joined the WVU staff in January after the retirement of Jeff Casteel. He was hired as the Edges/Pass Rush Specialist for Zac Alley’s defense.

Knight had previous coaching stops with Georgia Tech, Temple and the Green Bay Packers of the NFL. Before arriving in Morgantown, he had served as defensive ends coach and run game coordinator at Arkansas State for the past year.
Though nothing has been officially announced by either university, the Augusta, Georgia native appears to be leaving Morgantown before ever coaching an official practice. This is not an ideal situation for WVU head coach Rich Rodriguez. He now has a role on his staff to fill with Spring football less than three weeks away.
