WVU Baseball Makes Baseball America’s Preseason Field of 64

The West Virginia baseball program is making strides in the right direction once again heading into the 2026 season.

Steve Sabins and Co. have the Mountaineers just outside the Top 25 — mid 30s nationally — and now have even received more recognition from Baseball America.

In Baseball America’s preseason Field of 64, the Mountaineers are locked in as the No. 2 seed in the Knoxville Regional with Tennessee being the No. 1 seed. Rounding out the rest of the Regional is Cal Poly at No. 3 and Murray State at No. 4.

West Virginia is one of seven Big 12 teams represented by Baseball America. Others making the Field of 64 projections are Arizona, Kansas, Arizona State, Cincinnati, Oklahoma State and TCU.

WVU baseball, in my opinion, has the opportunity to win 50 (or more) games this season. Not only that, but they also have a chance to host a Regional and possibly a Super Regional as well.
