WVU to Host Georgia Southern All-Sun Belt Defender

Morgantown, WV – The NCAA Transfer Portal officially opened today. Thousands of players from around the nation are on the search for their next school in hopes of reaching greener pastures. The West Virginia Mountaineers, who have among the most departures in the portal, will be looking to add talent to supplement their roster. While commitments are still days away, news of prospect visits are beginning to surface for Rich Rodriguez and staff.

According to Cody Nagel and Chris Hummer of 247Sports, the Mountaineers will be hosting Georgia Southern edge/outside linebacker M.J. Stroud today. Stroud, who earned First Team All-Sun Belt honors in 2025, will have one season of eligibility remaining. He will also be visiting Colorado on January 6th, and Michigan State on January 9th.

During his standout junior campaign with the Eagles, the Georgia native tallied 33 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles.
